Key Takeaways
  • Google has updated the search settings interface on both desktop and mobile.

  • This update allows users to provide feedback, access privacy pages and Google's terms in the settings menu.

  • The update aims to enhance accessibility for users.

The Setting Interface Update

In an effort to improve user accessibility and streamline the search experience, Google's Community Manager announced that they will be relocating key items from the SERP footer to a more convenient location, within the settings menu.

What’s Changed on Mobile and Desktop?

These changes involve actions such as providing feedback, accessing privacy pages, and terms and conditions, all moved into the settings icon at the top of the desktop page. Meanwhile, on the mobile web, users can find these items within the menu (☰) at the top corner of the page.

The decision to move these items comes in response to feedback from the search community, highlighting the inconvenience of having to scroll down to the bottom of the page to access these important actions.

Ashwarya, Google's Community Manager, encourages users to share their opinions and feedback on these changes. Google welcomes feedback from the community and will consider it during the implementation process.

This user interface update is already visible on the search results page on both desktop and mobile web platforms. This can be verified through several comments left by the community on the announcement. Most users have already seen these changes on their search pages. Here is how it looks.
