news headline image
In an effort to enhance search results and ensure that users receive personalized information, Google has introduced the Notes and Follow features. These two features can advance the search experience for users.

Google has released two new features, Notes and Follow, to assist users in finding the most relevant content. Unfortunately, these two features are not yet available for testing in Indonesia. Here's the information.

Key Takeaways
  • Google has introduced the Notes and Follow features to make it easier for users to obtain the information they are truly looking for.

  • Notes are user-generated annotations on specific topics, allowing users with unique or specific questions to find answers from others who may have relevant experiences or knowledge. This widens the scope of content discussions.

  • Meanwhile, Follow is a feature where users can follow a specific topic they are searching for, allowing them to receive updates whenever that topic is discussed or updated.

Notes: Specific Notes for Your Unique Questions

The first feature, Notes, opens the door for users to gain insights from other users' perspectives on specific topics. We've previously discussed this Notes feature separately as part of the Search Labs experiment.

Users with highly specific or unique questions can find answers from others who may have relevant experiences or knowledge, broadening the content discussion.

By leveraging collective information, Notes enables users to share their thoughts, creating a broader and more personalized information ecosystem.

Follow: Track Sought-After Topics

Meanwhile, the Follow feature allows users to follow specific topics they are searching for. By clicking the "Follow" button, users will receive direct updates whenever the topic is discussed or updated.

This feature not only provides real-time updates but also ensures that users stay connected with the latest information. Users can enable or disable notifications for the topics they follow at any time.

This feature is not only useful for following trending topics but also gives users greater control over the type of information they receive, creating a more personalized search experience.

The primary goal behind the development of Notes and Follow is to provide users with more relevant and personalized search results.

Google hopes that by introducing these features, users will experience greater efficiency and effectiveness in their searches, with the ability to find information faster and more tailored to individual needs.

Currently, both features are accessible only to users in the United States and with English language input. However, as with other experiments, Google plans to expand its reach to more countries and languages in the future.
